About the Role
Our Client is currently recruiting for a Support Worker to join their team in Dungannon, a supported temporary accommodation service providing 24/7 support to individuals experiencing homelessness.
This service consists of 22 self-catering apartments, including accommodation suitable for couples, alongside communal facilities for residents. Our team works using a housing-led, low-threshold and harm reduction approach, supporting service users to build positive futures and greater independence.
As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering practical and emotional support to service users while promoting wellbeing, independence, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for service users, visitors, contractors and partner agencies
- Provide a warm, professional and welcoming environment
- Support service users with practical daily living tasks including meal preparation, laundry and maintaining living spaces where required
- Maintain accurate service user records and reports
- Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding service user support needs
- Assist Case Workers in delivering support plans and wellbeing management plans
- Support service users in achieving personal goals including financial, educational, creative and social outcomes
- Carry out health & safety checks, wellbeing checks and building inspections
- Identify and report building defects in line with organisational procedures
- Complete project administration duties including petty cash, statistics, incident reporting, invoices and record keeping
- Undertake cleaning duties in line with health & safety procedures
- Participate in team meetings, handovers, training and volunteer mentoring
- Maintain compliance with IT security and data protection policies
- Promote professional standards in line with the service values and ethos
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (Grade A-C) including Maths and English, or equivalent
- Minimum of:
- 1 year paid relevant work experience, OR
- 2 years relevant voluntary experience
- Good understanding of risk assessment and risk management
- Good IT skills including experience recording client information electronically
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to compile accurate written and electronic reports
- Understanding of homelessness and issues contributing to homelessness
- Knowledge of supports available within homeless services
- Awareness of statutory and voluntary sector services available to individuals experiencing homelessness
- Understanding of Health & Safety standards within support services
- Ability to liaise and network with relevant agencies and organisations
- Willingness to work in line with the service vision, mission and values
Additional Information
- This role requires flexibility to work on a rota basis across a 7-day week, including mornings, evenings, weekends and waking night shifts.
- This post is subject to an Enhanced Access NI check.
- NISCC registration is required for this role. If you do not currently hold registration, it must be completed during your probationary period.
