Overview We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to lead the modernization of a complex production platform, driving the transition from a monolithic architecture to scalable microservices. This is a role for an engineer who thinks in systems, not just code: you will navigate ambiguity, make sound architectural decisions, and take ownership of high-impact technical challenges as we evolve our platform for long-term scalability and resilience. What You Will Do Design and execute the shift from a monolithic architecture to scalable microservices, helping evolve a complex production platform and contributing to long-term modernization efforts. Build secure, high-performance Spring Boot services and well-documented RESTful APIs. Design and execute safe data migration strategies during service extraction, ensuring data integrity throughout production cutovers. Ensure all services meet strict security standards. Make sound architectural decisions in areas of technical ambiguity, balancing trade-offs and long-term maintainability. Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and system documentation; collaborate with frontend engineers. What We Expect 5+ years of professional Java and Spring Boot development. BS in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience with monolith-to-microservices migrations. Strong PostgreSQL experience (performance tuning, complex queries, and schema migrations). Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. Exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and Datadog monitoring. Daily proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.). Strong architectural thinking and the ability to make technical decisions in ambiguous problem spaces. You show ownership and responsibility of your problem space. You are able to communicate clearly, ask questions when needed, and contribute to productive teamwork. You are fluent in English, both verbal and written, and able to work PST hours.
