Job Description:
The AI Solutions Architect will partner with internal AI product management teams, vendor partners, and development staff to design, enhance, and operationalize secure, scalable AI and Agentic AI solutions. This role requires independent judgment, strong architectural leadership, and deep technical expertise in modern AI ecosystems including Azure OpenAI, LLM orchestration, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
The architect will ensure compliance with public-sector governance standards, including PII, HIPAA, and CJIS where applicable, while advancing responsible and ethical AI practices across DES programs.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable AI and Agentic AI solutions aligned with DES mission and state standards.
Define end-to-end AI architectures including:
Data ingestion pipelines
RAG frameworks
LLM orchestration
Agentic AI systems
Human-in-the-loop workflows
Develop architecture artifacts, technical specifications, and documentation for governance approvals.
Establish reference architectures and AI best practices for enterprise-wide adoption.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure solutions comply with:
State security standards
Privacy and accessibility requirements
Data governance regulations (PII, HIPAA, CJIS where applicable)
Design AI systems that emphasize:
Explainability
Auditability
Bias mitigation
Transparency in decision-support systems
Technical Leadership
Provide architectural guidance to development teams and system integrators.
Evaluate AI platforms, Azure cloud services, and vendor AI tools in coordination with procurement and legal teams.
Support AI strategy development, roadmaps, and executive briefings.
Collaborate with:
DevOps / Cloud Operations
Cybersecurity teams
Data engineering teams
Guide AI solutions from Proof of Concept (PoC) through production deployment.
Required Technical Skills
Hands-on AI development experience including:
Agentic AI solutions
Azure OpenAI
LLM, ML, and RAG architectures
Human-in-the-loop workflows
Strong background in:
.NET (C#, VB.NET)
HTML & JavaScript
Automation tools (OCR, IDP, AI/ML systems)
Experience designing AI systems from business and technical requirements.
Ability to perform code analysis and understand implementation patterns.
Strong architectural documentation and technical writing skills.
Ability to decompose complex business problems into logical AI workflows.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
Preferred Skills
Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipeline implementation.
Experience with REST & SOAP APIs.
Familiarity with:
MS Office
Google Suite
OnBase Unity Client
Experience mentoring developers and promoting best practices.
Experience working within Agile frameworks:
Scrum
Kanban
SAFe
Lean principles
Understanding of SDLC and ITIL processes.
