Industry and commercial
The railway is vital to Britain’s economy. It creates jobs and business opportunities. We work together with the rail industry and our contractors to keep the economy on track.
Rail enhances the economy’s productive potential by up to £10.2bn per year. The railway and its supply chain support thousands of jobs across Britain.
It’s our role to run, maintain and develop Britain’s rail infrastructure. But a successful railway is only possible in partnership with our industry partners and customers: the train and freight operating companies (TOC and FOC).
Our vision is to become an efficient and dependable partner. The more efficient we are, the more we can invest for passengers. We’ve been entrusted public money and it’s our duty to spend it wisely by pursuing better value and doing more for less.
Supply chain
Our extensive supply chain network plays its part in helping us run a safe, efficient and sustainable railway.
Rail freight
With partners across the sector, we’re working harder than ever to deliver better, faster, stronger services to support Britain’s economy and the decarbonisation of transport and supply chains.
