Attendees included Food and Drink at Wimbledon, Novotel London Brentford and Zen Educate, as well as UWL’s Careers team, Volunteering team and Talent Bank, which recruits students for on-campus jobs.
The fair was an opportunity for students to talk face-to face with employers, fill out application forms and exchange details.
Sodexo Live! were at the fair to tell students about opportunities to work as waiting staff and bar staff at their events.
They do not need any experience. We will train them while we pay them and help them become team leaders eventually. When we have events coming up, we contact students to see if they want to work at them,”
explained Chike, who was once an international student himself.
Alex, a UWL alumna, was at the fair representing education recruitment agency Teaching Personnel.
We’re looking for students with experience of working as teachers or teaching assistants abroad, or who have worked in hospitality or childcare. We want to support them on their journey and help them as they develop their skills in education,”
she explained.
Gaurav, a student who is doing a Masters in Health Informatics, said,
The fair has been so helpful. It has been good to find out about part-time job opportunities. I have got to know more about the jobs market and how things work here.
I am interested in teaching in primary or secondary schools while I study. It seems an enjoyable way to earn a decent amount of money.”
