About the Role
Aspire People are are seeking a motivated and experienced Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support in a mainstream primary school based in their SEN Resource Provision.
The Role
As an HLTA within a SEN Resource Provision, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a variety of needs, including learning, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), SCLN (Speech, Communication, and Language Needs), and EAL (English as an Additional Language). You will work alongside class teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, supporting individual and group work, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the teacher by undertaking specified work with individuals, small groups, and whole classes. You will help deliver lessons, plan and prepare learning activities, and adjust tasks as needed based on the pupils individual needs.
- Work with teachers to assess, record, and report on pupils' development, progress, and attainment. This may include monitoring pupil performance and providing constructive feedback to help them meet their learning goals.
- Provide specialist support to pupils with specific learning needs, including those with SEMH, SCLN, and EAL. Adapting learning materials and approaches to ensure inclusivity.
- Support pupils social and emotional development, recognising when additional support is needed and reporting concerns to the class teacher or SENCO as appropriate.
- Provide short-term cover for classes in the absence of the class teacher and support PPA cover within the SEND unit and wider school, when necessary.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA, ideally within a primary school setting, with specific experience working with SEN pupils.
- Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEMH, SCLN, and EAL.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Experience of planning, delivering, and adapting learning activities to meet the needs of individual pupils.
- The ability to assess and monitor pupils progress and work with teachers to provide tailored support.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- A relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent is desirable.
