SEN Support Assistant – Grantham

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a full-time SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Grantham area starting in September 2026 on a long-term, temporary to permanent basis.
The setting supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, severe learning difficulties, communication needs and associated social, emotional and behavioural needs. The provision delivers a highly individualised curriculum, with learning and support tailored to pupils’ EHCP outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and specialist support teams to help pupils access learning, develop independence and achieve positive educational and personal outcomes within a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
• Assist in the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
• Support pupils’ communication, social and emotional development
• Promote engagement, independence and confidence in learning
• Implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
• Support pupils with behaviour regulation using consistent and positive strategies
• Assist with personal care where required
• Monitor and record pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care or similar setting desirable)
• A patient, caring and resilient approach
• Understanding of autism, communication needs and learning difficulties
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
