Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Position Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer. Job Description: The Mechanical Engineer designs operating room equipment including patient support structures, electromechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic actuators, and accessories. Contributes to product innovation through out-of-the-box thinking and drives product concepts to production. Maintains current knowledge of competitive technologies across medical, technical, manufacturing, and materials developments related to company products. Maintains complete, accurate, and timely design history documentation, including testing methods. Job Responsibilities: Work independently or within cross-functional development teams to design, develop, and test products that meet system specifications Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure product designs are optimized for manufacturing Evaluate field input from Service and Marketing regarding product performance Maintain ongoing collaboration with Manufacturing and Marketing to meet and improve product needs Contribute to product improvement and cost reduction initiatives Participate in vendor selection, sustaining engineering, QC inspection, and material review board activities Assist other engineers and designers with technical input; lead projects as needed Maintain clear verbal and written communication   Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 5-8 YOE, Master’s Degree and 3+ YOE, or PhD 1+ YOE 5–8 years of design experience with a focus on product design Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks Hands-on experience designing with metals, plastics, and composites. Strong ability to apply engineering principles to solve problems, analyze data, and draw conclusions. Experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies with a focus on innovation. Familiarity with electromechanical and mechanism design (motor selection, couplings, bearings, gearbox design, drivetrain integration, sensor integration, cams, linkages, actuators). Familiarity with structural design using both hand calculations and software. Experience designing mechanical user interfaces (adjustment devices, touchpoints, jigs, and fixtures). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Job Details: Job Type: Direct Hire Salary Range: $124K–$142K. Location: Union City, CA.
