<p><strong>Commercial Manager – Consultancy Partnered with Leading Housing Association</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> London Bridge (hybrid – in office 2-3 days/week)<br /><strong>Salary:</strong> Up to <strong>£95,000</strong> extensive benefits package<br /><strong>Reports to:</strong> Head of Commercial / Director<br /><strong>Team:</strong> Managing 2-3 Quantity Surveyors (within a growing QS team)</p> <p><em> </em><em>About Us / The Role</em></p> <p>We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking consultancy working in close partnership with a major housing association. This role sits at the heart of their Repairs &amp; Maintenance division, overseeing the commercial management of social housing works, maintenance programmes, and capital repairs across their stock.</p> <p>You will join a business with a strong foundation (currently 20 Quantity Surveyors) and ambitious growth plans — targeting a team of 60 QSs over the next 4–5 years. That means this is a rare opportunity to take a lead in shaping the commercial leadership of a growing organisation, with strong career progression.</p> <p> </p> <p>In this role you will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Take full commercial responsibility for repair &amp; maintenance contracts, programmes, and frameworks</p> </li> <li> <p>Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of QSs (2–3 direct reports)</p> </li> <li> <p>Provide commercial input into contract strategy, tendering, procurement, and supplier selection</p> </li> <li> <p>Manage cost control, variation assessment, risk management, claims and dispute resolution</p> </li> <li> <p>Monitor performance against budgets, forecast costs, track KPIs, and report commercially to senior leadership</p> </li> <li> <p>Develop efficient processes, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives for commercial control</p> </li> <li> <p>Work closely with operations, asset, compliance teams and the housing association client to align objectives, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure high service delivery</p> </li> <li> <p>Be partly on-site in London Bridge (2–3 days per week) to collaborate with the client and internal teams</p> </li> </ul> <p><em> </em><em>About You / Key Requirements</em></p> <p>To succeed in this role, you will bring:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Substantial experience (ideally 8 years) in commercial / quantity surveying roles, especially in repairs &amp; maintenance or planned works in social housing / public sector settings</p> </li> <li> <p>Proven track record managing a small team of QSs and overseeing multiple contracts</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong technical understanding of measurement, cost planning, valuations, variations, and contract law</p> </li> <li> <p>Excellent financial acumen, analytical skills, and ability to manage risk</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience in procurement, tendering, contract negotiation and supplier management</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (you’ll liaise with clients, internal teams, contractors)</p> </li> <li> <p>Confident, proactive, problem-solving mindset</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and deliver to deadlines</p> </li> <li> <p>Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Economics, Construction Management or related field (or membership of a professional body — RICS, CIOB, etc) is preferred</p> </li> </ul> <p><em> </em><em>What You’ll Get / Benefits</em></p> <ul> <li> <p>Competitive salary up to <strong>£95,000</strong>, commensurate with experience</p> </li> <li> <p>Extensive benefits package (including pension, private health, bonus or performance incentives, training &amp; development, flexible benefits, etc)</p> </li> <li> <p>Hybrid working – only 2-3 days a week in the London Bridge office</p> </li> <li> <p>Genuine career progression in a business on a steep growth trajectory</p> </li> <li> <p>Opportunity to help shape the commercial function of a growing team</p> </li> <li> <p>Close-knit, collaborative environment, aligned with a major housing association client</p> </li> </ul>
