PACKAGING DESIGNERS (ALL SENIORITY LEVELS)

Location: El Segundo, California

Compensation Range: $20 - 50 per hour

We are seeking talented Packaging Designers at the Junior, Mid, and Senior levels on behalf of our client in the Beauty and Retail industry. We are building a qualified talent pool to meet projected staffing needs for anticipated 6 to 12-month contract roles. These assignments typically offer high potential for extension based on performance and business needs. Please note that specific pay rates and project details will vary depending on the roles that arise.

Location/Commutability: Candidates must be commutable to El Segundo, CA. Please note: Remote-only candidates cannot be considered at this time.
 
Responsibilities:

• Concept & Innovation: Brainstorm and develop innovative packaging designs (primary components and secondary outers) that align with brand DNA and current beauty/retail trends.
• Structural & Graphic Design: Execute technical drawings, dielines, and 3D renderings. Design graphic systems, typography, and layouts that enhance the consumer's tactile and visual experience.
• Technical Specification: Create and maintain detailed technical specifications, ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet engineering constraints.
• Sustainability Integration: Proactively identify and implement eco-responsible materials and manufacturing processes to align with global sustainability goals.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Product Development, and Engineering teams to ensure design intent is maintained from concept through to retail shelf.
• Prototyping & Validation: Oversee the creation of 3D prints and physical mock-ups. Review prototypes for color, material, and finish (CMF) accuracy and conduct testing for functional quality.
• Senior-Level Leadership: (For Senior roles) Lead design sprints, mentor junior staff, manage external vendor relationships, and oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle for major brand launches. 

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 1-8+ years of professional experience in packaging design, specifically within the Beauty and/or Retail sectors (Color Cosmetics, Skincare, or Fragrance experience is highly preferred).

Technical Software:

• 2D: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• 3D: Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or KeyShot.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of packaging materials (glass, plastic, sustainable resins), printing processes, and decoration techniques (hot stamping, silk screening, metallization).
• Portfolio: A strong professional portfolio demonstrating a range of packaging solutions, including structural forms, graphic applications, and a keen eye for "luxury" or "prestige" aesthetics.
• Logistics: Must be able to work on-site in El Segundo, CA, according to the client's hybrid schedule requirements.
