Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer

Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer – Local Authority – South West – Full Time – up to £65/hr Umbrella

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the South West on an interim basis, to start in May.

The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed general caseload, including DOLs, CoP, S21As, etc., and conducting advocacy.

Duties may include the following:

• Manage a busy caseload of adult social care litigation matters
• Handle Court of Protection cases, including Section 21A and welfare applications
• Provide clear, written legal advice on a variety of matters including:
  • Care Act
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • Section 117 Mental Health Act
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders across the Council
• Draft legal documentation and undertake advocacy where required
• Liaise with external counsel and other relevant bodies
• Support and contribute to team management where appropriate
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation and provide training or updates to colleagues as necessary

An hourly rate of up to £65 via umbrella is offered for this position. This role offers remote working flexibility, ideally with occasional attendance preferred.
