Below, we have briefly outlined some of the opportunities afforded to Unified Fire Authority firefighters. Paramedic Advanced life support; requires some prerequisites, promotion testing and yearly certification  Engineer Driver/Operator of fire apparatus; requires engineer school, promotion testing and competence testing  Heavy Rescue Technician Specialized rescue personnel; requires several advanced level classes and certifications and promotion testing  Hazardous Materials Technician  Specialized rescue personnel; requires HazMat school, competence testing and promotion testing Swiftwater Rescue Technician Specialized rescue personnel; requires ongoing training and competence testing Bomb Technician Cross sworn personnel; requires specialized education ongoing training and competence testing  Emergency Management UFA provides emergency management for all of Salt Lake County. These positions would require specialized education, ongoing training and hiring processes.   Tactical Medic (S.W.A.T.)
