About the Role

JOB SCOPE

This is a mid-level craftsman position that reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for Press Brake operations.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

A. General:

1.  High school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalency) is required; some vocational/technical training is desirable.  

2.  Computer experience/programming experience in similar type production machines is highly desirable.

3.  A minimum of 2 years’ experience is preferred.

B.  Essential Job Functions:

1.  Unless otherwise directed, operates CNC Press Brake and tools in an efficient, proper and safe manner; Ensure safe handling when loading raw materials and moving finished products. Interpret blueprints, job orders, and work instructions accurately. Use measuring devices like calipers, micrometers and tape measures to verify quality and dimensions.

2.  Produces high quality parts with minimum supervision and within specified tolerances; selects and uses the proper measuring devices/tools for specified gauging. Help with preparing machines and changing tooling as needed.

3.  Understands internal customer requirements; produces high quality parts and performs electronic, visual and manual quality checks. Keep work area clean.

4.  Supports the operating philosophy of the Company including its policies and procedures; sustains a strong work ethic and caring attitude: is punctual, dependable, cooperative and responsible; assists in self-development and in the training of others when asked. Comply with all established safety rules.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

1.  Correctly reads and understands shop drawings and blueprints.

2.  Correctly sets-up machines to specified measurements.

3.  Produces high quality parts; practices quality checking and quality control.

4.  Uses good safety techniques; has a good safety record.

5.  Sustains/increases knowledge of materials and products.

6.  Sustains knowledge of stock including properties and sizes.

7.  Sustains/increases understanding of machinery and tools.                                                                               

8.  Sustains/increases production efficiency; decreases waste and maintains good scrap control.

9.  Reflects proper care and use of machinery and tools.

10. Works well without undue supervision; accepts supervision, including the change in scope of work, positively. 

11. Supports a work environment where working with co-workers with divergent views are welcomed and solicited; appreciates and supports the operating philosophy of the Company.

12. Sustains an interest in self-development and in the development of others; remains ready, willing and able to learn; approaches work and learning with a positive attitude; displays initiative and perseverance; completes training targets on schedule; assists in the training of others when requested. Dependable with strong work ethic and attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

            Employees in this role are expected meet several physical requirements to ensure safe and                     efficient job performance in a manufacturing environment.

·         Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift, as the position often requires remaining on one’s feet

·         Should be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs during routine job tasks

·         Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination are essential for handling materials and operating machinery safely and accurately

·         Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment where noise and the presence of machinery are common

WORK ENVIRONMENT

             Employees in this role operate within a manufacturing facility. The environment is industrial and              may involve exposure to machinery and noise type of manufacturing settings.
