About the Role
Astute's Team is collaborating with a leading provider of Technical Publications to global OEMs for the recruitment of a skilled Technical Author in the Nuclear sector. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £48,000 along with benefits that include private medical insurance, life assurance, and a pension scheme. We are seeking an experienced Technical Author with a background in engineering documentation and a commitment to integrity and excellence. As a Technical Author, you will report to the Lead Technical Author and be responsible for producing high-quality S1000D data modules that meet military specifications. This includes creating descriptive and procedural documents related to operation and maintenance. You will apply Simplified Technical English (STE) to enhance clarity, collaborate with technical teams to gather and validate engineering information, and adapt documentation for various export customers including Sweden and France. You will also ensure quality control by submitting your work for internal review and maintaining document version control aligned with engineering updates. A successful candidate will have a proven background as a Technical Author, ideally within technical environments such as engineering, defence, manufacturing, or industrial equipment. Familiarity with S1000D and military writing standards is essential, along with experience using authoring tools like Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, and Microsoft Word. Additionally, candidates should have an understanding of document management systems and version control. Candidates must also possess SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, possess a strong understanding of engineering terminology and concepts, and communicate complex information effectively. This position is primarily remote, allowing flexibility while contributing to prominent nuclear energy projects.
