About the Role
Thurrock is seeking an experienced Team Manager to support the implementation of the Family First Partnership Programme within statutory children's services.
This is a key leadership role overseeing social work practitioners across Child & Family Assessment and Family Support Teams, managing a combination of short-term, long-term and court work.
The Role
Lead and supervise a team of social work practitioners within child protection services
Oversee complex and high-risk cases in a fast-paced statutory environment
Ensure robust risk management and high-quality decision-making
Maintain compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and local policies
Manage staffing levels, recruitment, retention, and workforce development
Contribute to strategic service planning and performance management discussions
Requirements
Significant experience within statutory children's services
Strong background in safeguarding and court proceedings
Experience supervising and developing social work staff
Confident managing complex and high-risk casework

Essential Requirements:
Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
Social Work England Registration
Driving license and access to own vehicle
