Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a dedicated Student Support Officer, to join our Student Support & Wellbeing team, and play a key role in supporting students with disabilities and mental health needs.
As a Student Support Officer, you’ll be the first point of contact for students seeking disability or mental health-related support. You’ll triage enquiries, provide straightforward support directly, and ensure students receive accurate information, signposting, and timely guidance.
As Student Support Officer, your responsibilities will include:
Responding to student queries and identifying when to refer complex cases to specialist advisers
Meeting students and arranging agreed reasonable adjustments
Supporting students through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) application process
Ensuring accurate, confidential, and timely record‑keeping
Working collaboratively across departments to ensure reasonable adjustments are implemented.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in a customer‑facing environment, able to respond accurately and sensitively to incoming queries
Organised, with good attention to detail and comfortable following established processes
Able to handle confidential information with professionalism, and work within agreed boundaries of practice
Experienced in scheduling, diary management, and minute‑taking - especially for sensitive meetings.
