Domestic Waste Technician

A well-established organisation within the water and environmental services sector is seeking a Domestic Waste Technician to join their team on a temporary 6-12 week contract.

This is a field-based role covering sites across the Anglian region, offering a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being on the move, and playing a hands-on role in day-to-day operations.

The position is ideal for candidates looking for immediate, short-term work within a supportive and operational environment, with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across multiple sites.

As Domestic Waste Technician, you will act as a key point of contact on site, supporting the safe and compliant handling of domestic waste while delivering a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations at domestic waste import sites
• Carry out site and equipment checks, identifying and resolving basic issues
• Ensure high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
• Sample and assess waste to ensure it meets required standards
• Provide professional and friendly support to customers, drivers and site teams
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure sites are operating efficiently

About You

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Able to travel across multiple sites and use your own vehicle
• Based within reasonable distance of Peterborough / surrounding areas
• Comfortable working outdoors in a hands-on environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proactive, reliable and able to work independently
• Previous experience in wastewater or similar environments is desirable

Working Pattern

• 40 hours per week
• Flexible shifts between 7:00am - 6:00pm
• Field-based role covering Grantham, Spalding, Grimsby, Lincoln, Skegness, King's Lynn and surrounding areas (with occasional travel further afield)
