GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY Under supervision, the Machine Operator Assistant performs a variety of plant activities to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization. This individual maintains production flow by pulling orders, loading/unloading production materials, ensuring quality control and staging finished product. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Loads and unloads glass. • Inspects glass to ensure quality. • Measures glass to ensure accuracy. • May apply cleaner to send thru washing process. • May assemble and attach hardware to glass. • May trim excess interlayer from edges of glass and load onto baking trays. • May program or reset computer to complete task. • May sort glass by thicknesses. • May pack glass (orders) for shipment. • May attach tickets to glass and load carts in preparation for next department. • Performs additional assignments per the Manager’s direction. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE • High School diploma or equivalent preferred. • Read a tape measurer. • Read and understand tickets and work orders. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Requires continuous standing, sitting, reaching, walking, talking, stooping, kneeling, crawling and lifting. • Manually lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis; or more using assistance. • Includes close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision with ability to adjust focus. • May require occasional weekend, holiday and evening work. • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. WORK ENVIRONMENT • Manufacturing environment with exposure to extreme temperatures (summer & winter), loud noise, equipment and related noise, moving glass, hazards and atmospheric conditions. • Noise level is usually moderate. • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
