Senior Process Engineer - Industrial Wastewater Treatment £50,000 - £65,000 + Car Allowance Remote / Hybrid (UK) with regular site visitsPlease note: applications can only be considered from candidates currently based in the UK who have the legal right to work in the UK.We are seeking a technically capable Senior Process Engineer to support consultancy and project delivery across industrial effluent, municipal wastewater and sludge treatment projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical problem solving, project management and client interaction across varied environmental engineering projects.You will play a key role in delivering operational improvements, commissioning support and technical consultancy services, working closely with clients to optimise treatment performance, reduce risk and improve compliance.The RoleYou will provide practical and technical support across a range of wastewater and sludge treatment consultancy projects. The role combines office, site and occasional laboratory work, involving data interpretation, troubleshooting treatment processes and developing solutions tailored to complex industrial effluent challenges. This position offers significant variety, autonomy and client exposure, making it ideal for an engineer looking to take ownership of projects and contribute to business growth.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Engineering & Technical SupportProvide on-site and desk-based technical support across operational and commissioning projectsAnalyse treatment performance and identify process optimisation opportunitiesInterpret analytical data relating to wastewater chemistry, microbiology and treatment efficiencySupport troubleshooting of industrial effluent treatment systemsContribute to development of technical reports and recommendationsAssist with commissioning activities to ensure plant performance meets required criteriaProject ManagementManage consultancy projects from proposal through to deliveryProduce technical proposals and scopes of workPrepare RAMS and ensure safe project deliveryManage resources, timelines, budgets and subcontractorsMaintain strong client relationships throughout project lifecycleCoordinate project activities with internal teams and external stakeholdersQuality, Health, Safety & EnvironmentSupport development and continuous improvement of procedures and quality systemsMaintain strong adherence to H&S requirements including permits and site inductionsAssist with development of SOPs and technical documentationClient DevelopmentBuild relationships with new and existing clientsIdentify opportunities to support business growth through technical expertisePresent findings and technical recommendations to clients and project stakeholdersRequirementsEssential ExperienceDegree qualified (BSc or BEng minimum) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering or similar disciplineExperience working on industrial wastewater, effluent or sludge treatment projectsStrong understanding of wastewater chemistry, microbiology and treatment processesPractical experience working on industrial or water utility sitesExperience managing technical or consultancy projectsKnowledge of site equipment including pumps, mixers, aeration systems and control philosophiesExperience preparing RAMS, SOPs and technical reportsStrong client-facing communication skillsFull UK driving licence and access to a vehicleWillingness to travel to sites across the UK, including occasional overnight staysDesirableExperience supporting commissioning or optimisation of treatment plantsExperience working within environmental consultancy environmentsUnderstanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within the UK water sectorWorking Pattern & BenefitsFlexible working environment combining remote, site and office activitiesExposure to a wide range of industrial wastewater treatment challengesHigh level of autonomy and technical responsibilitySalary up to £70,000 depending on experienceCar allowanceOpportunity to influence technical solutions and project delivery approachesVaried project portfolio across industrial and municipal sectorsApplyIf you are a Senior Process Engineer with experience in industrial wastewater or effluent treatment, and you enjoy delivering practical solutions to complex environmental challenges, we would welcome your application.
