Job Description
An Ingalls First-Class Electrician also called a Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ships power. Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment along with a working knowledge of blue prints, drawings and schematics. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.
Must Have
Minimum 4Ç Yrs. experience in the commercial, industrial or marine electrical field
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
Nice to Have
One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.).
