About the Role
Are you leaving or have recently left the Armed Forces and looking to apply your operational, organisational, and leadership experience in a structured civilian environment?
This is an opportunity to join a high-impact transformation programme supporting critical national capabilities. You’ll play a central role in keeping complex programmes running smoothly - bringing the same discipline, attention to detail, and developed during service.
The Role
As a Project Support Officer, you will sit at the heart of a large-scale transformation programme, ensuring effective coordination, governance, and delivery support across multiple projects.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining structure, driving momentum, and enabling senior leaders to make informed decisions -much like a staff or operations support role in a military environment.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling: Maintain and track programme plans, ensuring accuracy and alignment across teams
Monitoring & Reporting: Produce performance reports and support regular reporting cycles to stakeholders
Governance & Assurance: Ensure adherence to programme controls, standards, and best practices
Operational Support: Prepare documentation and artefacts for boards and decision-making forums
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong working relationships across internal and external teams
Financial Oversight: Track budgets, forecasts, and expenditure
Risk & Issue Management: Maintain risk registers and ensure issues are actively managed and resolved

Background in structured project, programme, or operational delivery environments
Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience managing risks, issues, and dependencies through to resolution
Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
Familiarity with governance frameworks and assurance processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Qualifications (or equivalent experience):
APM, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or demonstrable experience working within formal project/programme frameworks
Desirable
Experience with programme/project tools (e.g., portfolio management systems, reporting tools)
Exposure to both agile and traditional (waterfall) delivery environments
