About the role:
Justteachers is looking for a motivated 1:1 SEN Specialist to support post-16 learners within a specialist SEN school in Birmingham. This full-time position runs from September 2026 until July 2027 and offers the opportunity to help young adults develop life skills, confidence, and independence as they prepare for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalised 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Assist learners with vocational, academic, and life skills activities.
- Promote independence and confidence in everyday tasks.
- Support communication and social interaction.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists.
- Monitor progress and contribute to learner development plans.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting young people with SEN.
- Understanding of autism, complex needs, or learning disabilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and encouraging approach.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner wellbeing.
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
