About the Role
A secondary school in Finchley is seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of English to cover maternity leave for one year, commencing 16 March 2026. This is a part-time position working Monday to Thursday.
We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge, proven experience teaching English at secondary level, and a confident, engaging presence in the classroom. The successful candidate will be committed to high standards of teaching and learning, able to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5), and dedicated to supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a qualified teacher with relevant secondary English teaching experience
Demonstrate outstanding classroom practice
Have strong behaviour management skills
Show commitment to raising attainment and student progress
Contribute positively to the wider life of the school
