The Role
Pipefitters are responsible for installing complex systems together on the ship and in the shop: more than 23 miles of pipe are installed on a submarine, and more than 230 miles of pipe are installed on a carrier. As a pipefitter, you will learn to read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test the many piping systems onboard a ship. In your first few weeks at the company you will attend a Fundamentals of Pipe Fitting class where you will receive important information needed for you to perform you job. During your career you will also receive other training need to enhance your knowledge of the job.
This position is for job seekers who have received and provide a certificate or diploma in Pipefitting or a directly related field. Directly related fields include Commercial Pipefitting, Plumbing, HVAC, Irrigation, Welding, Hydraulics, and/or Storm/Wastewater Management.
Candidates with no experience or certifications are encouraged to apply to the Pipefitter Trainee requisition.
Must Have
Must be able to present one or more certificates of completion or diploma in pipe fitting or a directly related field from a high school vocational program, community college, trade school, technical college, apprentice program, post–secondary institution, or military equivalent.
Must be able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces.
Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
