Year 1 Teaching Assistant

About the role:
justteachers are supporting a primary school in Coventry to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class. This is a full-time role with an October 2026 start, fixed term until the end of the academic year. The school has a welcoming KS1 team, a strong focus on phonics and early reading, and a nurturing ethos where every child is encouraged to achieve their potential. Staff benefit from regular CPD, collaborative planning and supportive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support teaching and learning across the Year 1 classroom
• Deliver phonics and small group interventions
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
• Work collaboratively with teachers and parents

Pre-requisites:

• Level 2 or higher teaching assistant qualification or equivalent (Must be relevant to working with children)
• Proven experience working with children in a school or relevant setting (That can be referenced)
• A minimum of two references that cover the past two years, including last employer. Ideally references will be education or school-based references
