Senior Purchasing Manager

Our client based close to Amsterdam, they are active in recycling and currently seeking for a Senior Purchasing Manager The Role The Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and developing of local sourcing activities in recycled products in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium  with a focus on supplier relationships, purchasing performance, and operational coordination at the Amsterdam location. The role is key to securing volumes, optimizing margins, and ensuring smooth execution in close cooperation with operations, logistics, and sales teams. The position is based close to Amsterdam and reports to the General Manager, with close interaction with shareholders and group management. Dit ga je doen Local Sourcing & Supplier Management Develop, manage, and expand relationships with local suppliers and contractors (Netherlands, Germany, Belgium) Secure sustainable volumes with a focus on quality, pricing, reliability, and continuity of supply. Conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and service providers. Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements where needed. Purchasing Operations & Coordination: Manage and coordinate purchase operations, including stevedoring and storage-related services in cooperation with terminal and operations teams. Ensure alignment between purchasing, logistics, quality requirements, storage capacity, and sales. Support contract execution and resolve operational or commercial issues with suppliers. Commercial Performance & Market Development: Identify and pursue new sourcing opportunities in line with market conditions and company strategy. Anticipate supplier and market developments affecting availability, pricing, quality and logistics. Contribute to achieving or exceeding volume, margin, and operational targets. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a senior point of reference within the purchasing function. Support, coach, and collaborate with junior buyers and operational staff where applicable. Work closely with sales, logistics, finance, and group entities to maximize synergies. Representation & Market Presence: Represent our client in discussions with suppliers, contractors, and industry partners. Participate in relevant industry events, meetings, and networking activities within the metals and recycling sector.
