Personal Tax Manager

Personal Tax Manager Manchester £50,000 - £62,000 (depending on experience) Butler Rose are pleased to be recruiting for a well‑established accountancy practice in Manchester for a Personal Tax Manager to lead the compliance delivery for their personal tax portfolio. This role is primarily focused on managing the preparation and review of personal tax compliance work for a varied client base, with the opportunity to support advisory projects where appropriate. You will lead a small team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and excellent client service across self‑assessment, tax computations and HMRC engagements. Duties Lead and manage all areas of personal tax compliance for a portfolio of clients Review personal tax returns, tax computations and supporting working papers Ensure timely submission of UK self‑assessment tax returns, benefits in kind, offshore disclosures and other compliance requirements Manage client correspondence and queries effectively, including HMRC enquiries Provide technical review and quality control across the personal tax team Assist with more complex technical issues and escalate as necessary Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding client needs and expectations Support the Partners in identifying planning opportunities where relevant Provide coaching, supervision and development support to junior team members What we're looking for Proven experience in personal tax compliance within a UK accountancy practice Strong technical knowledge of UK income tax, CGT and self‑assessment compliance Confident leading compliance delivery and supervising a team Experience with tax software (e.g., CCH, Taxfiler, GoSystem, Absolute etc.) Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Advisory experience would be a bonus, but focus on compliance delivery is essential ATT, CTA or equivalent qualification (or working towards) Benefits Flexible working patterns, including hybrid working Pension - 5% employer contribution of full salary Comprehensive study support Convenient location with excellent public transportation links Firm arranged social events with a minimum of one event every quarter Paid overtime Modern offices with kitchen facilities A SimplyHealth cashback plan Long-service awards If you're an experienced personal tax professional who excels in compliance and wants to take the next step in your career with a respected Manchester practice, we'd love to hear from you. #IND-HL-25 Butler Rose is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
