About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer with expertise in LiDAR mapping and HD map pipeline development to strengthen our mapping infrastructure for autonomous vehicles. You will play a key role in building high-precision 3D maps, optimizing geospatial data processing, and integrating HD maps into our autonomous vehicle stack.   This role is five days onsite per week in our Mountain View, CA office! What you'll do Develop and maintain scalable HD map pipelines ensuring real-time accuracy. Process LiDAR and sensor data for precise 3D maps and point cloud optimization. Implement geospatial data processing for large-scale mapping. Work with perception, localization, and planning teams to integrate HD maps into autonomous vehicles. Work with Lanelet2, OpenDRIVE, and industry mapping standards. Build QA tools to validate map accuracy and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance mapping capabilities. Develop tools to validate and maintain map accuracy and reliability. Stay updated on advancements in HD mapping and geospatial tech. What we're looking for B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, Robotics, or related field. 3+ years in HD maps and autonomous vehicle map pipelines. Strong C++ skills (modern C++ preferred). Familiarity with Python (a plus). Expertise in geospatial processing, GIS tools, and coordinate systems. Experience with GDAL, Proj4, GeoPandas, and LiDAR data processing. Knowledge of Lanelet2, OpenDRIVE, and Git, CI/CD pipelines. Strong debugging and performance optimization skills. Bonus Qualifications Experience in localization, perception, or motion planning. Knowledge of mapping visualization tools (Foxglove, RViz). Exposure to ML-based mapping techniques. Familiarity with ML-based map annotation and geospatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
