Interim Senior Public Health Analyst (Public Health Advanced Practitioner/Intelligence)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Public Health Advanced Practitioner to lead the Public Health Intelligence function of a Local Authority.

This is a pivotal role where you will transform complex data into meaningful insight, helping to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for our residents. You’ll work at the heart of decision-making, influencing strategy across the Council and wider health and care system.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Leading the development of Public Health Intelligence across the borough
• Managing and delivering complex analytical programmes and projects, turning data into actionable insight that shapes public health decisions
• Producing and overseeing key intelligence outputs such as:
  • Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
  • Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)
  • Other health needs assessments including APHA
• Ensuring robust data governance, including secure handling of sensitive datasets
• Driving a data-driven culture, promoting best practice in analysis, modelling, and visualisation
• Leading and mentoring a small team of practitioners
• Building strong partnerships across the Council, NHS, and regional networks

Experience and knowledge required:

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field (e.g. public health, statistics, health sciences)
• Strong experience in public health intelligence or health data analysis
• Expertise in statistical and analytical techniques for large datasets
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and information security
• Postgraduate qualification in public health, epidemiology, or similar
• Experience with tools such as R, SPSS, SQL, Power BI, or GIS tools
