Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant Location: Corby Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceAre you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and proactive Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students who require specialist support.This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing educational environment, supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage in learning, regulate emotions and develop confidence and independence.Key Responsibilities:Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs and associated barriers to learningSupport pupils with emotional regulation, wellbeing strategies and positive behaviour approachesBuild trusting relationships that promote safety, stability and engagementWork closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals to implement support plansAssist in creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environmentSupport students during challenging moments using trauma-informed and therapeutic approachesEncourage positive social interaction, resilience and personal developmentMonitor and report on student progress, wellbeing and engagementThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:Previous experience working in mental health settings is essential (for example CAMHS, youth mental health services, support work, residential care, counselling support or similar)Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, autism or additional needs is highly desirableA strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and emotional wellbeing supportExcellent communication, patience and de-escalation skillsThe ability to remain calm, consistent and empathetic under pressureA genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people thriveRelevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, education or support work are advantageousWe Offer:A supportive and experienced staff teamOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesThe chance to make a real impact in young people's livesA rewarding role within a specialist educational settingOpportunities for career progressionIf you have a background in mental health and want to use your experience to support young people in education, we would love to hear from you.Apply now to join a team committed to transforming lives through care, understanding and education.
