About the role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Wakefield from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about bringing history to life and inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of the past and its impact on the modern world. The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress and attainment
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking
- Support students in developing analytical, research, and essay-writing skills
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement
- Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for History education
- Strong organisational skills and a commitment to high educational standards
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
