Job Overview
Systems Control is hiring an Electrical Testing Specialist Lead to become a part of our Integrated Substation Solutions team. As an Electrical Testing Specialist Lead, you are responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of electrical power systems and related equipment within a laboratory testing environment, or in the field at a customer jobsite. This role focuses on detailed analytical tasks and testing of protective relaying equipment, electrical panels, and other electrical devices and equipment installed in an equipment enclosure. This role wil assist the Supervisor with daily tasks, approximately 30% of the time.

A Day In The Life
Support supervisor with day-to-day planning
Fill in when supervisor is out of the office
Assist supervisor with employee development
Track and maintain performance metrics for the assigned Panel or EE work area
Facilitate and/or perform employee training
Develop and maintain standard work procedures
Perform functional testing and final acceptance testing on electrical panels and related equipment by interpreting schematics and customer standards to simulate desired conditions
Utilize testing equipment and power supplies to inject proper voltages and currents during the functional testing process, protecting against improper wiring or design that would cause damage to equipment
Work and interact with customers, in the plant and in the field, to develop and execute proper testing processes to meet customer requirements for all specified and installed equipment
Install customer-provided relay settings and upgrade relay firmware as necessary to meet customer requirements and standards
Assist engineering in the correction of wiring diagrams and schematic drawings in order to meet customer design requirements
Guide production resources to correctly and safely apply power to electrical equipment
Ensure processes and documentation comply with all quality department procedures and any customer requirements
Provide mentoring, oversight and training for testing specialists, ensuring proper testing and safety practices are followed
Develop and maintain standard work procedures for any new equipment and new customer requirements
Work safely in and around energized electrical equipment, adhering to all safety protocols and standards
What will help you thrive in this role?
Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, electrical power certification or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the testing of electrical equipment
Have completed applicable NFPA and OSHA safety certifications
Advanced understanding of 3-phase power principles, and the function and operation of electrical relaying devices and associated equipment
Expertise in relay test software and ability to program microprocessor-based relaying equipment
Strong analytical skills to accurately test all panels and circuits to simulate conditions and document all test procedure results
Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with all levels of stakeholders
