Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems within a production facility to drive efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.

This position plays a key role in the production of high-quality plastic components and requires a strong understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and quality standards. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration to meet production goals and support ongoing operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes including extrusion, injection molding, assembly, and packaging
  • Perform process validation and verification to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with industry standards
  • Partner with product management and design engineering teams to improve manufacturability of new and existing products
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives, including process enhancements and design modifications
  • Collaborate with tooling and equipment teams to develop molds, dies, fixtures, and other production tools
  • Evaluate product and tooling designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and maintainability
  • Create work instructions for equipment setup and operation and support training initiatives
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans for new and existing equipment
  • Establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and regulatory compliance
  • Work with quality teams to investigate and resolve defects, deviations, and non-conformances
  • Manage projects including timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Identify potential manufacturing risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations to resolve production issues
  • Support additional tasks as required
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective collaboration, negotiation, and presentation capabilities
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, ideally within plastics manufacturing
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Hands-on knowledge of injection molding, extrusion, and related processes
  • Experience with CAD software for tooling and fixture design
  • Familiarity with quality standards and methodologies (e.g., ISO, ASTM)
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and materials
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
  • Ability to push and pull carts and pallet jacks
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs regularly; assistance required for heavier loads
  • Visual requirements include close, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as color recognition
