Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Orthopedic Surgeons to support a short-term coverage need in Templeton, California. This is a 24-hour call-based assignment built around a low-volume, fracture-focused orthopedic service line within a community hospital setting.
This is not a high-volume elective ortho role.
This is a call-driven, trauma-focused coverage model with predictable census and strong specialty backup.

- Duration: Short-term (2–3 months)
- Schedule:
- 8–10 shifts per month
- 24-hour shifts (weekday and weekend coverage)
- Typical block structure: 5 consecutive 24-hour shifts
- Call:
- In-house or on-call coverage required during 24-hour shifts
- EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
Practice Environment
- Single orthopedic surgeon covering service line per day
- No APP support
- Intensivist support available
- Open ICU model
- Full specialty backup available
This is a true independent call model—best suited for surgeons comfortable managing cases without layered staffing.
Volume & Clinical Flow
- Daytime census: 10–12 patients
- Night census: 6–8 patients
- Annual surgeries: ~325
This is a low-volume, manageable call environment with predictable workflow.
Case Mix
- ~40% hip fractures
- Remaining cases include:
- Ankle fractures
- Wrist fractures
- Tibia/fibula fractures
This is a bread-and-butter orthopedic trauma profile—no complex tertiary cases.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour orthopedic call coverage
- Manage ED consults and inpatient orthopedic cases
- Perform fracture care and surgical intervention as needed
- Coordinate care with hospital staff and specialty teams
- Document within Cerner EMR
What We’re Looking For
- Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon (ABA/AOBA accepted per facility)
- Active California license (or in process)
