<h3><strong>Accounting Manager – Affordable Housing / Real Estate</strong></h3>

<p>Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a mission‑driven affordable housing organization that operates with the sophistication and scale of a for‑profit real estate firm. Due to continued growth, the organization is seeking an <strong>Accounting Manager</strong> to support and elevate its real estate and corporate accounting function.</p>
<p>This role will serve as a key partner to the Controller and plays a critical role in overseeing accounting operations across a large multifamily housing portfolio.</p>
<h4><strong>Position Overview</strong></h4>
<p>The Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations for a portfolio of affordable and mixed‑income housing communities, working closely with internal leadership and third‑party property managers. This is a hands‑on role with visibility, ownership, and long‑term growth potential (including progression toward Assistant Controller).</p>
<h4><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h4>
<ul>
<li>Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for real estate entities</li>
<li>Review and analyze financials received from third‑party property managers</li>
<li>Manage audits across a large multifamily housing portfolio</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with GAAP, LIHTC, HUD, lender, and grantor requirements</li>
<li>Support budgeting, forecasting, and consolidated reporting</li>
<li>Supervise and mentor accounting resources (internal and/or outsourced)</li>
<li>Drive process improvements and strengthen controls and reporting accuracy</li>
<li>Assist with onboarding new properties and integrating them into accounting systems</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Ideal Candidate Profile</strong></h4>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field</li>
<li>7+ years of accounting experience, including manager‑level responsibility</li>
<li>Strong background in affordable housing, nonprofit real estate, or LIHTC environments</li>
<li>Experience working with third‑party property managers</li>
<li>Solid knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting</li>
<li>CPA preferred (or strong public accounting foundation)</li>
<li>Experience with systems such as Yardi, MIP, or similar</li>
<li>Comfortable in a hybrid, fast‑paced, and mission‑oriented organization</li>
</ul>
