About the Role
<p><strong>Street Scene Managerneeded in Doncaster Paying £22.99 per hr ref 000B 320C / 1</strong></p>
<p><strong>Full time hours on a temporary basis</strong> </p>
<p><strong>Key Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Day to management of street scene services including street cleansing and grounds maintenance, in line with the service standards and SLA’s/targets.</li>
<li>Manage teams of operational staff, setting performance expectations, monitoring productivity and addressing any issues.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with environmental legislations, health & safety and council policies.</li>
<li>Manage operational budgets</li>
<li>Respond to queries, complaints and service requests</li>
<li>Work with key stakeholders (councillors, community groups, other council departments)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Core Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Proven experience working within local government street scene operations, including grounds maintenance, street cleansing, and associated environmental services.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of operational service standards, health & safety requirements, and compliance within a public‑sector context.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Operational & Resource Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Demonstrated ability to deploy, coordinate and monitor resources (people, vehicles, equipment) to ensure efficient service delivery.</li>
<li>Experience planning daily/weekly work schedules, responding to service demands, and reallocating resources to meet priorities.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>People Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience supervising operational teams, including task allocation, performance monitoring, coaching, and supporting staff development.</li>
<li>Ability to manage attendance, address performance issues, and maintain positive working relationships across teams.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Budget & Financial Awareness</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Working knowledge of budget management and monitoring expenditure within operational services.</li>
<li>Ability to contribute to forecasting, track spend against budgets and identify opportunities for efficiencies.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Skills & Competencies</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.</li>
<li>Good communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for liaising with staff, managers, contractors and the public.</li>
<li>Competent in using digital systems for scheduling, reporting, and recording operational data.</li>
<li>Commitment to high service standards, customer focus, and continuous improvement.</li>
</ul>
<p>They need to have a full driving licence and obviously be able to drive. Working hours are 37hrs p/w, shift pattern could be 5 days Mon-Fri or 4 days e.g. Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri </p>
