Right Now Group is seeking an experienced Import Customs Clearance Coordinator to join a busy and dynamic freight forwarding team.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and compliant clearance of import shipments, working closely with internal teams, customers, transport providers, and HMRC to deliver an exceptional level of service.
Key Responsibilities of Import Customs Clearance Coordinator
- Preparing and submitting customs declarations for air freight imports.
- Preparing and processing pre-lodgements and T1 transit documents for road freight imports.
- Liaising directly with HMRC to resolve customs-related queries and issues.
- Ensuring all customs declarations are accurate, compliant, and submitted within required timescales.
- Booking air freight shipments from pre-alert documentation.
- Working closely with the Customer Service team to ensure all required import documentation is received before goods arrive in the UK.
- Communicating directly with customers when required to obtain or clarify shipment information.
- Monitoring and tracking shipments, providing timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Identifying potential operational issues and taking proactive steps to minimise delays.
- Creating and maintaining ETSF records using ASM Sequoia and ensuring all associated documentation is accurate.
- Maintaining and updating internal systems to support the efficient movement of goods.
- Managing a shared team mailbox and handling inbound telephone enquiries professionally.
- Collaborating with the in-house Transport team to coordinate collections and deliveries in line with customer requirements.
- Supporting the wider Import team with day-to-day operations and contributing to continuous process improvements.
- Undertaking any additional duties required to support the smooth and efficient running of the department.
Shift: 4 on 4 off
Hours: 07:00 to 19:00
Salary: £29,000 to £35,000
Skills & Attributes of Import Customs Clearance Coordinator:
- Previous experience in customs clearance within freight forwarding or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of UK import customs procedures and HMRC regulations.
- Experience preparing import declarations, pre-lodgements and T1 documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and external agencies.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and identifying operational improvements.
- Experience using customs software such as ASM Sequoia would be highly advantageous.
- Competency using Microsoft Office and freight forwarding systems.
- Adherence to Woodland Group policies, procedures and compliance standards.
- Positive contribution to departmental efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
