A busy job fair held at Lurgan Town Hall on Tuesday 24 February attracted strong interest from job seekers and employers alike, highlighting Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s continued commitment to supporting employment and skills development across the area.
Over 210 people came along to the event organised by the Council’s Labour Market Partnership (LMP) in collaboration with the local Jobs and Benefits Office along with employers such as Agnew Group, Avondale Foods, G4S, and Terex in attendance.
The Labour Market Partnership (LMP) is funded by the Department for Communities. Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Attendees had the chance to meet employers face-to-face, explore a variety of live job opportunities, and access information on training and support schemes to boost their employability.
Lord Mayor, Alderman Stephen Moutray, who attended the event, said: “The Lurgan job fair has been a tremendous success, and we’re delighted to see such a strong turnout from both employers and job seekers. Events like this are an essential part of our work to strengthen the local labour market. They create a welcoming space where people can explore real opportunities, speak directly with employers, and access the support they need to take their next step into work or career progression.
Our aim is always to connect people with opportunities and to support businesses in finding the talent they need to grow. The strong turnout demonstrates the positive impact of bringing everyone together under one roof, and we look forward to building on this success later in the year.”
Labour Market Partnership job fairs are hosted throughout the year in towns across the borough. The next one will take place on Wednesday 27 May at Millennium Court, Portadown from 11am–2pm.
There is also the Agri-Food Careers Fair happening on Tuesday 10 March 2026, from 10am to 2pm, in Armagh City Hotel.
