Purpose, people and planet Caring for ourselves and each other starts with caring for the world we live in. Over the last few years, we’ve been investing and laying the right foundations to deliver on our ambitious sustainability goals. And we’ve taken some meaningful steps. Take a look back at our progress over the past few years and some of our more recent steps towards greater sustainability: September 2019 100% green and renewable electricity in offices November 2019 Electric car charging points installed in office car parks February 2020 FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) First Accredited – all paper now used from sustainable sources May 2020 First awarded Carbon Neutral status – because we reduced and balance our carbon emissions November 2021 Offices were renovated using tiles made from 100% green energy, and LED lighting December 2021 80% of fleet vehicles are now hybrid – helping to reduce our carbon emissions July 2022 We become the UK’s first B-Corp Health Insurer – meeting the highest standards of impact June 2023 Simplyhealth’s first Customer Financial Hardship fund to support financially vulnerable customers December 2023 We launched the first of ten new ‘green’ employee benefits for colleagues – our EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme July 2024 We implemented our new Environmental Purchasing Policy Could we B any more promising?! We’ve been awarded B Corp status - a global movement to encourage all businesses with one unifying goal – to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. The certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact (also known as ESG). We’re extremely proud to have become the first health insurer in the UK to receive certification! B Corp and Simplyhealth B Corp is all about harnessing the power of business as a force for good. And we’ve been walking the path to do good in the world for decades in the way we contribute to society, through our positive impact on the environment, and by governing ourselves in a responsible way. We’ve never answered to shareholders, instead we reinvest our profits into healthcare, and we improve access for all in the UK so its our customers and our community who benefit.
