About the Role

Clinical Director / Head Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice, Profit Share – North London – £80,000–£100,000 + 5–10% Profit Share

A rare and genuinely exciting leadership opportunity at an independent, owner-led small animal practice in North London — where culture, honesty, and clinical excellence sit at the heart of everything they do. 🌟

About the Practice

This is not a corporate role. This is an independent, three-vet small animal practice owned and run by a practicing vet — someone who leads from the front, values transparency above all else, and has built a team and client base that reflects that.

The practice is refreshingly honest about who they are — they don't claim to be perfect, but they do claim to be better every day. Their mission is straightforward: provide the best client service of any UK vet practice, by looking after their team first. And judging by the quality of their client relationships — they're well on their way.

Clinically, the recently revamped practice is well equipped with:

Dedicated theatre, dental suite with dental X-rays, and separate cat and dog wards

X-ray, ultrasound and bronchoscope

Peripatetic specialists covering orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, endoscopy and cardiology

A spacious team room, kitchen and shower facilities for staff

About the Role

This is a full-time Clinical Director position, with approximately 80% of your time spent clinically. You'll lead a team of three vets, working closely with the Nurse Manager and Practice Manager to drive the practice forward — clinically, culturally and commercially.

The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (8:30–19:30) plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (9:00–13:30). All shift hours are paid — including lunch breaks, which are actively protected.

Key responsibilities span clinical governance, team mentorship, CPD facilitation, recruitment support, performance management, community engagement, and contributing to the business's financial performance and growth.

What They're Looking For

They are looking for an inspirational, experienced small animal vet — likely with 6–8+ years of small animal experience — who is as passionate about leadership and mentorship as they are about clinical work. A further qualification such as a certificate is an advantage but not a requirement. CT experience would be desirable.

The ideal candidate will be:

✔️ An exceptional GP clinician with strong leadership skills ✔️ Collaborative, empathetic and genuinely invested in their team's development ✔️ Commercially aware and able to contribute to business performance ✔️ A strong communicator and culture champion ✔️ An ambassador for the practice within the wider community

What They Can Offer You

✅ Salary £80,000–£100,000 DOE, plus approximately 5–10% profit share

✅ 5.6 weeks holiday plus your birthday off 🎂

✅ Private medical insurance (up to £50/month)

✅ Fitness allowance (up to £20/month for memberships or £150/year for equipment)

✅ £1,500 CPD allowance with 2 paid CPD days (flexible if it benefits the practice)

✅ Enhanced parental leave

✅ Team bonus scheme — because success here is shared

✅ Staff discounts including free consultations for all team members

How to Apply

If you're an experienced vet ready to step into a leadership role where your voice genuinely matters — and you want to help shape the future of an independent practice that does things differently — this is a conversation worth having.
