About the Role

Location: Truro, Cornwall Title: Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Reports to: Clinical Director of the Specialist Surgical Care Group Accountable to: Medical Director Remuneration: In accordance with NHS pay scales Job Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to join our committed team in Cornwall. This role involves providing comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services in Cornwall, collaborating with primary care dental services and the Peninsula Dental School, and managing the day-to-day workload of the department. Key Responsibilities: Deliver the full remit of oral and maxillofacial surgery for Cornwall's population. Manage complex facial trauma, oral cancer, and temporomandibular joint pathology. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment, including dermatology and head and neck oncology. Engage in teaching and training of junior staff, medical students, and other clinical staff groups. Participate in clinical audit, research, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Provide out-of-hours cover and participate in the on-call rota. Qualifications: GDC/GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice. GMC Specialist Register for or within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR or European Community Rights at the time of interview. Successfully completed the Intercollegiate Fellowship Exam in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent. Experience: Ability to manage patients with complex facial trauma and oral cancer. Broad experience in head and neck skin cancer surgery, including metastatic disease. Effective participation in clinical audit and training in teaching. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong IT skills and conceptual and analytical abilities. Fluent English to at least I.E.L.T.S level 7.5. Additional Requirements: ? A Disclosure and Barring Service record check satisfactory to the organisation. Current and valid visa to allow work in the UK. OH clearance and three satisfactory references.
