Senior Accountant Location: Sonoma County Employment Type: Full-Time Comp: $110K-130K About the Opportunity: We are partnering with a well-established, employee-focused organization in the construction industry seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role offers strong exposure to leadership, cross-functional teams, and key financial operations, with an emphasis on job cost accounting, Work in Progress (WIP), and financial process optimization . Position Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting financial operations, owning critical accounting functions, and contributing to process improvements and automation initiatives. This individual will be heavily involved in monthly close, WIP reporting, and financial analysis, while partnering across departments to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and forecasting Analyze job budgets, costs, revenues, billings, and backlog Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and job cost allocations Manage and track fixed assets Assist with annual audit preparation and respond to audit requests Perform analytical reviews related to billing and financial performance Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational and financial initiatives Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities Support special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of accounting experience (construction industry experience strongly preferred) Experience with job cost accounting and WIP schedules Strong understanding of GAAP CPA or public accounting experience is a plus Familiarity with construction accounting systems (e.g., Spectrum, Viewpoint, Sage) preferred Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) Key Skills & Attributes Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent communication and collaboration skills Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset Why This Role?
