<strong>Role: 3rd Line Network Engineer</strong><br><br><strong>Location: Solihull (Fully On-Site)</strong><br><br><strong>Salary: £40,000 - £45,000</strong><br><br>Network IT are working with a growing and highly regarded managed services provider to recruit a <strong>3rd Line Network Engineer</strong>. This is a senior technical role supporting complex, enterprise and ISP-level networks across a diverse customer base covering numerous sectors and industries with their own bespoke requirements.<br><br>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives in high-impact environments, enjoys solving complex issues, and wants to work across a broad, modern networking stack.<br><br><strong>This role will require you to work Monday to Friday out of our clients Solihull office, please ensure you can accommodate to these circumstances before applying.</strong><br><br><strong>Role Overview</strong><br><br>As a <strong>3rd Line Network Engineer</strong>, you will provide advanced technical support and own escalated issues across end-to-end network environments. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex connectivity problems, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of mission-critical systems.<br><br>You will work across the full network stack — from <strong>ISP backbone and WAN connectivity through to customer edge, firewalls, LAN switching, and wireless infrastructure</strong> — playing a key role in maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.<br><br>This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and deliver under pressure.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br><br><ul><li>Provide <strong>3rd line support</strong> across complex enterprise and ISP-level network environments<br><br></li><ul><li>Own and resolve <strong>escalated network incidents</strong>, performing deep technical diagnostics<br><br></li><li>Support full-stack networking including <strong>WAN, LAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and SD-WAN</strong><br><br></li><li>Troubleshoot issues across <strong>core backbone, circuits, customer edge, and on-site infrastructure</strong><br><br></li><li>Work across multi-vendor environments including <strong>Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto</strong><br><br></li><li>Ensure high levels of <strong>network performance, availability, and reliability</strong><br><br></li><li>Maintain detailed documentation and update <strong>ITSM/ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow)</strong><br><br></li><li>Collaborate with internal teams and support knowledge sharing across the wider technical function<br><br></li><li>Support customers in <strong>mission-critical environments</strong>, ensuring professionalism and accuracy at all times<br><br></li></ul></ul><strong>Essential Skills & Experience</strong><br><br><ul><li>Proven experience in a <strong>3rd Line Network Engineer</strong> or senior network support role<br><br></li><ul><li>Experience supporting <strong>large-scale, high-availability network environments</strong> (public sector, healthcare, education, or enterprise)<br><br></li><li>Strong technical knowledge of: <br><br><ul><li><strong>Routing protocols (BGP, TCP/IP stack)</strong><br><br></li><li><strong>WAN/LAN networking</strong><br><br></li><li><strong>Firewalls and network security</strong><br><br></li><li><strong>Wireless networking and SD-WAN technologies</strong><br><br></li></ul></ul></li><ul><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>FortiGate, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto</strong><br><br></li><li>Experience using <strong>ITSM platforms</strong> (ServiceNow desirable)<br><br></li><li><strong>CCNA certification (essential)</strong><br><br></li><li><strong>CCNP certification (highly desirable)</strong><br><br></li></ul></ul>
