About the Role

The Water Quality Analyst performs a variety of tests and analyses on raw and potable water, wastewater and bio-solids associated with the District's extensive water quality and related technical programs. &nbsp;The &nbsp;position performs professional and scientific work associated with regulatory oversight for District’s Laboratory and may serve as Laboratory Quality Manager as needed. &nbsp;QA responsibilities will also including conducting internal audits, overseeing and reviewing QC data, ensuring QA/QC system implementation, and monitoring and maintaining laboratory certifications. &nbsp;The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, quick thinker, who displays initiative, &nbsp; &nbsp;analytical ability, and expertise in their work, who will perform a &nbsp;variety of complex, technical, and problem solving activities within the Water Quality Division of the Water Resources Department.<br>&nbsp;<strong>Immediate Impact:</strong> &nbsp;The successful candidate will be given the following objectives upon hire:<br>&nbsp;<br>·&nbsp;Within the first month, demonstrate an adequate understanding of the District’s water and wastewater sampling and testing programs, with a focus on the day-to-day lab operations and quality assurance. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>· Within 3 months, demonstrate ability to generate monthly repots and required data uploads. &nbsp;Re-develop assigned SOP’s including TOC to fulfill TNI requirements ad complete necessary IDOC’s.<br>·&nbsp;Within 4 months, complete QA internal audit of the lab and submit finalized report. &nbsp;<br>·&nbsp;Within 6 months, complete assigned updates to the QAM and ensure compliance.<br>·&nbsp;Within 12 months, complete all assigned projects and implementation of identified goals, objectives, policies and procedures. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<strong>The Ideal Candidate:</strong><br><br>·&nbsp;Will act with integrity and in accordance with the accepted ethical standards of the District and applicable laws and regulations.<br>·&nbsp;Is an enthusiastic team player, looking out for the common good for the organization.<br>·&nbsp;Is familiar with a water quality analytical laboratory setting.<br>·&nbsp;Possesses knowledge of the appropriate laboratory tests associated with water and wastewater systems.<br>·&nbsp;Possesses education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, microbiology, environmental &nbsp;science, environmental engineering or a related field. &nbsp;<br>·&nbsp;Has a minimum of four years of experience in a certified drinking water or environmental laboratory including 2 years developing and applying quality assurance criteria and procedures for environmental monitoring water/wastewater laboratories; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>·&nbsp;Possesses an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>· Possesses a valid Grade I Laboratory Analyst Certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). Will be required to obtain a valid Grade II &nbsp;Laboratory Analyst Certificate issued by the California Water Environment &nbsp;Association (CWEA) within 12 months of hire.<br>· Possession of a valid Grade I Water Treatment Operator and Grade I Water Distribution Operator &nbsp;certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) within 12 months of hire.<br>&nbsp;<strong>The Application Process:</strong>&nbsp; If you are interested in this opportunity, submit a completed WESA employment application online at <a href="http://www.evmwd.com">www.evmwd.com</a>.
