About the Role

About the role: Justteachers is working in partnership with a large and welcoming three-form entry primary school seeking an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join their team from September 2026 . This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and resilient individual who has a proven track record of supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs. The position is initially offered on a long-term basis, with the school looking to secure a permanent appointment for the right candidate. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, families, teachers, and external agencies to support children’s wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement with learning. Key Responsibilities: Provide pastoral support to pupils across the school. Support children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Work proactively with pupils who require additional intervention to improve behaviour and engagement. Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff. Deliver targeted interventions to support emotional wellbeing and personal development. Monitor attendance and punctuality, following up concerns where appropriate. Liaise with external agencies and support services when required. Support behaviour management strategies across the school. Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil support plans. Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times. Pre-requisites: Previous experience working in a Pastoral Support, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Support, Family Support, or similar role within a school setting. Demonstrable experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or social needs. Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to work with challenging behaviours. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues. A calm, patient, and resilient approach. Good organisational and record-keeping skills. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
