About the Role
<p><strong>Design Project Manager</strong><br /><strong>Birmingham – Curzon Station</strong><br /><strong>£75,000 – 85,000 per annum plus package dependent on experience</strong> </p>
<p>We are seeking an experienced and driven Design Project Manager (Design PM) to join the team in Birmingham, supporting the delivery of the landmark HS2 Curzon Station project. <br />This is a pivotal role where you will lead and coordinate all aspects of design on behalf of the Lead Design Manager, ensuring seamless integration, compliance, and delivery across a complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure programme. </p>
<p><u>Responsibilities:</u> <br />– Lead and track detailed design programmes from IDC through to IFC stages <br />– Manage and control the overall design programme, including change management <br />– Deliver clear, dashboard-driven reporting and escalate risks/issues proactively <br />– Coordinate closely with HS2 Design PM to ensure aligned communication <br />– Oversee work package deliverables, including reviews, approvals, and progress tracking <br />– Ensure timely production and management of TIDPs and MIDPs through assurance processes <br />– Support development of MEP and fit-out design deliverables <br />– Promote a collaborative, safety-first culture aligned with project objectives <br />– Assist in maintaining and updating the Design Management Plan (DMP) <br />– Manage design-related costs, risks, opportunities, and change control </p>
<p><u>About You:</u> <br />You are a confident communicator and experienced design leader, comfortable operating at both project and board level. You thrive in complex environments and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. </p>
<p><u>Skills & Competencies:</u> <br />– Excellent written and verbal communication skills <br />– Strong leadership and team management capability in multi-disciplinary environments <br />– Highly organised with strong planning and time management skills <br />– Solid understanding of UK health & safety and construction regulations, including: <br />– Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 <br />– CDM Regulations 2015 <br />– Relevant construction and safety legislation </p>
<p><u>Qualifications & Experience:</u> <br />– Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline <br />– Chartered status (e.g. ICE) or equivalent professional membership <br />– Proven experience in a similar role within a large engineering or infrastructure organisation </p>
