About the Role

Science Teacher - SEN (SEMH / ASC) South Gloucestershire - Flexible Supply & Long-Term OpportunitiesTradewind Recruitment is working with several specialist SEN provisions across South Gloucestershire to recruit Science Teachers. We are offering both flexible supply work and longer-term opportunities to suit your availability and career goals.These settings support pupils with SEMH and ASC needs and provide highly structured, nurturing environments with small teaching groups of up to 10 pupils.The role will involve teaching Science across KS3 and KS4. You will support learners working towards GCSE Science, as well as groups that may have significant academic delays. As such, these roles are particularly suited to secondary teachers who are confident delivering a more differentiated, skills-based curriculum.Pupils are often anxious learners who may display challenging behaviour linked to emotional regulation, trauma, or communication needs. Staff are expected to use trauma-informed, relational approaches, with a strong emphasis on consistency, predictability, and de-escalation.The role may include:Delivering adapted Science lessons aligned to EHCP outcomesTeaching GCSE Science to mixed cohortsSupporting learners working significantly below age-related expectationsWorking closely with support staff to maintain calm, regulated learning environmentsManaging behaviour through positive relationships and clear boundariesThe ideal candidate will have:Qualified Teacher Status or relevant teaching experienceExperience working with SEN, SEMH, or alternative provisionConfidence teaching Science at GCSE and/or KS3 levelA calm, resilient, and reflective approach to behaviourFlexibility to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needsWhy work with Tradewind Recruitment?At Tradewind, we don't just place candidates - we champion them.
