About the Role

The Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is offering an internship for bachelor’s or master’s students within the project “Impact of global warming on large river sinuosity (acronym WARISIN)” financed by the National Science Centre Poland. The internship concerns the use of satellite data and Geographic Information Systems to classify large rivers and derive geomorphic characteristics at the global scale. The collected information will be classified and analyzed to investigate changes in large river sinuosity worldwide. It is expected that the intern will be able to review the current literature on river sinuosity via satellite imagery, collect and analyze satellite information, and contribute to the development of the project also by means of written reports. Very good knowledge of English is required. The internship is not paid and can be done both remotely or at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Internship details (duration, starting date) will be discussed with interested candidates.
