The Procurement Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality sourcing of materials and services. The role requires strong technical understanding, supplier management expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to support production and project requirements efficiently.

  • Lead end-to-end procurement operations for direct and indirect materials, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Develop and manage a robust supplier base (100+ direct suppliers) to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production Planning, Production, Service, Sourcing, Engineering, Finance, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate procurement of materials and components.
  • Source and evaluate materials for heavy machining, fabrication, Casting , Forging (VMC, HMC, Turning, Milling, etc.).
  • Monitor supplier performance in coordination with the sourcing team to drive improvements in On-Time Delivery (OTD) and quality.
  • Manage supplier forecasts and ensure material availability to meet production and project timelines.
  • Handle urgent and critical procurement requirements effectively to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with commercial and statutory requirements including GST, VAT, and supplier payment processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes, cost optimization, and supplier performance.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering.
  • MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management / Operations preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of total experience, with at least 10 years in core procurement functions.
  • Prior experience in machine-building or project-based industries is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of engineering processes, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Effective negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
  • Strong follow-up, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of commercial transactions, taxation (GST, VAT), Import & Export , supplier payments.
  • Ability to manage crises and handle urgent procurement needs.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems , MS Office tools , SAP S4 Hana ( Preferred )
