Job Summary
We are seeking a Processing Assistant to support WIC Program services. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, computer skills, a keen eye for detail. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing clerical support (professional health services, nutrition education, and program eligibility information) to all Nutrition Services positions.
Conduct state and local required surveys upon request.
Review eligibility criteria including residence, category, income, and medical/nutritional risk.
Input eligibility information into appropriate Crossroads system screens.
Issue WIC vouchers/food benefits as required.
Explain program purpose, rules, income guidelines, and medical eligibility requirements to participants.
Review and document participant information in Crossroads for proof of identification, residency, and income.
Determine eligibility based on program protocols.
Identify referral needs during screening/assessment and make appropriate referrals to agency programs, medical providers, or community resources.
Issue e-WIC Benefits Cards and explain proper use of participants.
Answer calls on the appointment line, provide general information, and schedule or reschedule
Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
Maintain professional appearance and represent the agency favorably.
Interact with internal departments, the public, community service providers, and state agencies.
Collect and submit bi-weekly timesheets.
Complete office tasks using computer, printer, fax machine, copier, telephone, and/or calculator.
Prepare and maintain alphabetized files of clinical and program data.
Receive, distribute, and send clinic mail daily and as needed.
Maintain and clean exam rooms after use.
Requirements and Qualifications
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two (2) years of office assistant or secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Utilize programs accessed through the internet using desktop and laptop computers.
Operate printers, fax machines, copiers, multi-line telephone systems, credit card machines, and adding machines.
Prior medical office/administrative experience preferred.
